OEM guitar cables may look simple from the outside, but behind every finished cable is a complete production process involving conductor preparation, insulation extrusion, shielding, assembly, testing and packaging.

In this article, we share part of the real manufacturing workflow behind OEM guitar cable production.

1. Copper Wire Stranding

The process starts with copper conductors.

Multiple fine copper strands are twisted together to improve flexibility and signal stability. High-quality stranded conductors help reduce breakage during long-term use and repeated bending.

This is one of the key steps that affects cable durability and performance.

2. PE Insulation Extrusion

After the conductor is prepared, an insulation layer is added through PE extrusion.

The insulation protects the conductor and helps maintain stable signal transmission inside the cable.

During production, the cable passes through a cooling tank after extrusion to stabilize the insulation layer before the next manufacturing step.

3. Braided Shielding Process

Shielding is an important part of guitar cable manufacturing.

Braided shielding helps reduce noise and signal interference during use. In OEM guitar cable production, braided structures are commonly used for flexible instrument cables and stage cables.

This process also gives braided guitar cables their recognizable appearance and texture.

4. Outer Jacket Extrusion

After shielding, the cable receives its outer jacket.

The outer layer protects the internal structure from wear, bending and daily handling. Different materials and finishes can be used depending on the project requirements.

For OEM orders, custom colors and jacket styles are also available.

5. Cable Assembly & Soldering

Once the cable is prepared, connectors are assembled and soldered.

This step requires stable workmanship to ensure proper signal transmission and long-term reliability.

OEM projects may include:

  • Straight plugs
  • Right-angle plugs
  • Gold-plated connectors
  • Custom branding

6. Signal Inspection & Testing

Before packaging, cables go through signal inspection and quality testing.

The testing process helps ensure stable connectivity and reduces the risk of defective products reaching customers.

Typical inspections include:

  • Signal continuity
  • Connection stability
  • Appearance check
  • Packaging inspection

7. Packaging & OEM Branding

After final inspection, the cables are packed according to customer requirements.

OEM packaging options may include:

  • Paper cards
  • Poly bags
  • Color boxes
  • Barcode labels
  • Private label branding
